What is Qi Gong?

Qi Gong (pronounced chee-gong) is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is an internal process that has external movements.

Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese exercise and healing technique that involves meditation controlled breathing and movement exercises, a way of cultivating physical, spiritual, emotional and psychical health, that originated in China about 7000 years ago. It is one of the oldest exercise system in history.

Qi (气)is a concept from traditional Chinese culture that roughly means vital energy, life energy, life force, the energy that powers our body and spirit.

Gong (功)”method to cultivate energy”.

Qi Gong literally means “life energy work, a way of working with the life energy. It is a form of movement and mind using intention and mindfulness to guide Qi to make Qi work.

Each movements are repeated a certain number of times, such as three, six or nine times.

Qi flows throughout the body’s energy pathways which is meridians. The body is unwell when the flow of Qi becomes stagnant or blocked, whereas a free flowing and balanced Qi energizes the organs, systems and cells.

Qi Gong exercise cultivate life energy, so a person with good Qi is healthy and strong. Qi is the type of energy makes us feel alive.

Practicing the same move over and over to stimulate muscle, bone, heart, respiratory and other functions in the body.

It is easy to learn. However to practice correctly you must understand how to do the correct breathing and correct posture. Therefor it is important to learnt the correct way.
